Age calculator for exam eligibility
Find your exact age on the cutoff date in your notification, and check whether you fall inside the age limit for your category.
How the age limit check works
Your age is counted in completed years on the "as on" date. A maximum age of 27 means you must not have turned 28 by that date. So with an "as on" date of 01-01-2026, you'd need to be born on or after 02-01-1998.
Relaxation is added to the maximum age only: 3 years for OBC (NCL), 5 years for SC/ST, and 10 more years for PwBD. Ex-servicemen, departmental candidates and some state quotas follow their own rules, which this calculator doesn't cover.
Questions people ask
What does "age as on" mean in a notification?
It is the fixed date on which your age is counted, such as 01-01-2026 or 01-08-2026. Your age on the day you apply doesn’t matter.
How much age relaxation do OBC, SC and ST candidates get?
For most central government posts it is 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 5 years for SC and ST, with an extra 10 years for PwBD candidates. Some posts and states use different rules, so check your notification.
Why does the tool say "born not before" and "not later than"?
Notifications usually state the eligible date-of-birth range in that form. If your date of birth falls inside it, you meet the age condition.
