Based on the registration instructions on the official India Post GDS portal (source). Last checked 19 Oct 2026. From the registration instructions on the official GDS portal. They give file sizes only, so the tool uses a standard passport shape for the photo and a 3.5 × 1.5 cm shape for the signature. The portal's latest listed round is Schedule-I of January 2025, so check the notice for your round. Rules can change between cycles, so match these against the notification for your exam before you submit.
How to resize for India Post GDS
- Take a clear, recent photo against a plain light background. A phone camera in daylight is fine.
- Sign on plain white paper with the pen colour your notification asks for (usually black). Photograph it from directly above in good light.
- Choose each image above. Drag and zoom so it fills the frame.
- Check the size shown under the preview, then tap Download JPG and upload that file on the India Post portal.
What to know before you apply for India Post GDS
Gramin Dak Sevak posts are filled on the basis of Class 10 marks, with no written exam, so the online form is most of the process. You register on the GDS portal with your photo and signature, then apply for posts in the circle you choose.
The portal's only size rules are that the photo must not exceed 50 KB and the signature must not exceed 20 KB. Very small files look blurred, so the tool keeps as much quality as fits under those limits.
Check every detail before you submit. The portal says a registration cannot be edited after it is submitted.

What photo size does India Post GDS accept?
Up to 50 KB, as a JPG, based on the 2025 (Schedule-I) notification.
What signature size does India Post GDS accept?
Up to 20 KB. Sign on plain white paper in the ink colour the notification asks for (usually black), then photograph or scan it.
Why was my upload rejected even though the size was right?
Portals also check things a resizer can’t fix: a blurred or old photo, a face that is too small, caps or dark glasses, a coloured background, or a signature in capital letters. Retake the image if any of these apply.

Yes. Your image is processed inside your browser and is never sent to any server. You can even switch off mobile data after the page loads and it still works.
