UPSC photo and signature resizer
Make your photograph, signature (signed three times), photo id card fit the UPSC Civil Services and other exams on the OTR portal form rules. Pick an image, adjust the crop, and download a file that's already within the limits.
🔒 Runs in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded.
There is also a live photo. UPSC also takes your photo live with your webcam or phone camera inside the form, and it should match the photo you upload. Sit facing a window or lamp against a plain wall, with no cap, mask or spectacles.
Also needed: Matriculation and name-change certificates as a PDF (50 to 300 kb). Make the PDF here.

Based on the official UPSC notice for the 2026 cycle (source). Last checked 17 Oct 2026. From the photo and signature instructions on UPSC's application portal (upsconline.nic.in), which apply to every UPSC exam. The 2026 rules no longer ask for your name and date on the photo, though some older guides still say so. Name the files photo.jpg and signature.jpg. Rules can change between cycles, so match these against the notification for your exam before you submit.
How to resize for UPSC
- Take a clear, recent photo against a plain light background. A phone camera in daylight is fine.
- Sign on plain white paper with the pen colour your notification asks for (usually black). Photograph it from directly above in good light.
- Choose each image above. Drag and zoom so it fills the frame.
- Check the size shown under the preview, then tap Download JPG and upload that file on the UPSC portal.
Questions people ask
What photo size does UPSC accept?
20 to 200 KB, as a JPG, based on the 2026 notification.
What signature size does UPSC accept?
20 to 100 KB. Sign on plain white paper in the ink colour the notification asks for (usually black), then photograph or scan it.
Why was my upload rejected even though the size was right?
Portals also check things a resizer can’t fix: a blurred or old photo, a face that is too small, caps or dark glasses, a coloured background, or a signature in capital letters. Retake the image if any of these apply.
Is it safe to use this tool?
Yes. Your image is processed inside your browser and is never sent to any server. You can even switch off mobile data after the page loads and it still works.
